Best practices for buying or selling a performance horse

What I do for buyers

  • 1. Consult with you

    We’ll start with a consultation (virtually or in person, if you’re near Spearfish, SD) so I can learn your goals for your breeding or performance program and offer advice.

  • 2. Define your criteria

    Together, we’ll identify your list of “must haves” and “deal breakers,” budget, and and other LTE, age, or performance criteria your perfect fit must have on their resume.

  • 3. Go to work for you

    Next, I’ll find you exactly what you ordered. I’ll handle all communication with sellers, secure photos, videos, and vet records / vet checks for your review.

  • 4. Close the sale

    Once a deal is made, I’ll utilize my legal team and professional contracts to close the sale. All sale contracts will be signed via Docusign for your convenience and security.

  • 5. Facilitate transportation

    If needed, I can also help arrange transportation to your facility. I’m here to facilitate the buying experience from start to finish.

What I do for sellers

  • 1. Consult with you

    I’ll learn about the horse(s) you want to sell and help you identify where they’d fit best in the market. Should you sell privately or at a sale? Which sale? If privately, what platform would represent them best?

  • 2. Market your horse(s)

    I’ll help you get professional pictures (and/or video) of your horse. Then, I’ll go to work for you, marketing your horse across all the top channels: Premier Horse, Facebook, sales websites, and my network.

  • 3. Handle all inquiries

    When your horse is listed for sale, I’ll manage all inquiries from potential buyers. You can sit back and relax; I’ll loop you in only when you’re needed or when a promising offer comes forward.

  • 4. Close the sale

    Once you’ve received your ideal offer and a deal is made, I’ll utilize my legal team and professional contracts to close the sale. All sale contracts will be signed via Docusign for your convenience and security.

  • 5. Facilitate transportation

    If needed, I can also help arrange transportation to the buyer’s facility. I’m here to facilitate the selling experience from start to finish, so you don’t have to worry about a thing.

What I do for stallion owners

  • 1. Consult with you

    We’ll start with a consultation so I can learn your goals for your stallion and breeding program and offer advice.

  • 2. Find your incentive programs

    Together, we’ll identify which incentive programs would be beneficial to help you reach those goals.

  • 3. Secure your incentive slot

    Find and purchase a stallion slot in those incentive programs, should they be a program that’s currently full.
